Facials and Microdermabrasion: Two Popular Skin Treatments

by Judy Aulin

For most women there is nothing better than a facial treatment because it helps promote skin renewal and helps us relax. Microdermabrasion and facial cleansing are two different treatments that can be used as one.

Even though facial treatments do involve an exfoliation step, these two procedures are still different. Also, microdermabrasion uses mechanical exfoliants that are not the same as a facial. Keep reading to compare these two facial treatments.

Facial Cleansing

Facials promote healthy skin by helping to maintain it clean, exfoliated, and nourished. They are also known as deep cleansing facials or deep pore cleansing because they help extract impurities from the hair follicles.

A facial is performed in seven different steps. The esthetician starts by cleaning the skin with cotton pads and a cleansing product. This step may be followed by a skin analysis that will help the esthetician determine what products to use for your type of skin.

Once the skin is cleaned, the professional will exfoliate it with a mechanical or chemical exfoliant. If you'd like to treat your skin with a natural skin treatment, then you may request a natural exfoliant such as salt, sugar, or crushed grape seeds. Next, the esthetician may extract blackheads or whitehead if needed.

After completing the extraction process, the esthetician will begin to massage your face and stimulate the skin and facial muscles. A facial ends with a mask and the application of toners and protective creams. This skin treatment should be performed at least 4 times a year to reap its full benefits.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a facial treatment that uses mechanical abrasion to remove the outer layers of the skin. The main idea is to help provide a deep exfoliation for skin renewal. This treatment should be done by a licensed professional.

This procedure can be performed by a dermatologist in his/her office, but is usually performed in a day spa or salon.

One of the benefits of using microdermabrasion is that is can be done anywhere on the body, not just the face. It is fairly painless and takes about 20 or 30 minutes. This procedure is usually performed to deal with a specific skin issue such as wrinkles, age spots or scars.

The basis of a microdermabrasion cream are abrading micro-crystals. However, the cream may also contain other ingredients such as natural extracts. This is to help soothe the skin during the process.

After any microdermabrasion treatment, you should use sunscreen to protect the newly exposed skin. People who have sensitive mature skin should not use this type of treatment because it might cause rashes and irritation.

Skin exfoliation is a safe and effective way of keeping your skin looking younger while getting rid of dead skin cells, debris, and excess sebum. BIOSKINEXFOL is not like all natural skin care products, because this special product actually helps reveal healthier looking skin without causing side-effects. The secret behind natural skin products like this is a special natural ingredient capable of soothing skin while repairing the damage caused by external factors.
